Winter Sports Information

IMPORTANT INFORMATION REGARDING WINTER SEASON 2021-2022:

Winter Tryout/Practice Schedule- The winter season will begin on November 15 for wrestling and swim/dive. The remainder of the winter teams: boys' basketball, girls' basketball, boys' indoor track, girls' indoor track, cheer, and ice hockey will begin on November 29. The tryout/practice information will be coming out next week. Listed below is the paperwork that needs to be completed before your child participates this winter season. All athletes are required to wear masks as they enter the building and during practices.  Athletes should also bring their own water bottles and have them clearly labeled.


In addition, here is some important information. Please be sure to go through each one. They are numbered 1-5 making sure you have done each one.

The schedule for tryouts is listed as number 5.  The first link is to register your child at the high school on Family ID.

  4. 2.  Physicals- can be emailed to athletic director or athlete may hand in on the first day of practice

All incoming freshmen and juniors are required to hand in a copy of a recent physical ( within a year). Convenient Med is option for physicals(please call ahead) if you are not able to see your primary.
 

  1. 3.  Athletic policy meeting for any parent who has not previously attended a policy meeting. There will be a zoom meeting on Thursday, December 2 at 6:30. Please contact the athletic director for the zoom link.

 

  1.  4.  Academic eligibility- A student must have an overall grade of a C- (1.7 GPA) or better in the first marking period immediately preceding the start of a listed activity. No student who has failed to pass in four units of work during the previous grading quarter shall represent the school in any interscholastic contest.  A minimum course load of five units per grading quarter is required for participation. Fourth quarter grades determine fall eligibility and summer school does not count towards eligibility.  Teacher aide, office aide, and driver education do not count as units when determining eligibility.  
  2. Waiver of Academic Requirement 
    A waiver process for academic eligibility must be filed with the athletic office in a timely fashion. A waiver may be granted under extenuating personal or educational circumstances.  Please contact the athletic office with further questions.

5. Tryouts schedules

Girls’ Basketball- First day of tryouts will be November 29

November 29-Monday

Any girl interested will attend tryouts from 3:00-5:00. Please arrive at least 15 minutes earlier to ensure you are ready to take the floor at 3:00 pm. After this session, players will be told what session they will attend on Tuesday. On Tuesday, the first session is 2:30-4:00 and the second session is 4:00-5:30

November 30- Tuesday

First session will be 2:30-4:00 and second session will be 4:00-5:30. Teams will be selected at the end of this tryout.

December 1-Wednesday

Varsity- 2:30-4:00

JV/Freshmen- 4:00-5:30

December 2- Thursday

Varsity- 2:30-4:30

JV/Freshmen- 4:30-6:30

December 3- Friday

Varsity-5:30-7:00 at Hudson Memorial

JV/Freshmen- 4:00-5:30 at Community Center

*Coaches will hand out schedule for the month of December during this week.

December 4- Saturday

Varsity only will be attending the Dover Jamboree.

 

Boys’ Basketball- First day of tryouts will be November 29

Freshmen will be from 5:00-6:30. Please arrive 15 minutes prior to the start of the tryout. Some freshmen will be asked to attend the second session on 11/30

Upperclassmen will be from 6:30-8:30. Please arrive 15 minutes prior to the start of the tryout.

November 30- Tuesday

Session one is for freshmen- 5:30-7:00. Please arrive 15 minutes prior to tryout. A cut will be made after tryout.

Session two is for upperclassmen and invited freshmen- 7:00-8:30. Please arrive 15 minutes prior to tryout. A cut will be made after the tryout.

December 1- Wednesday

Freshmen- 5:30-7:00pm. Please arrive 15 minutes prior. A cut will be made.

Upperclassmen-6:30-8:30. Please arrive 15 minutes prior. A cut will be made.

December 2- Thursday-Coaches will hand out practice schedule for the month of December.

Freshmen- 2:30-4:00 at Community Center. School will provide transportation to the Center but parents will need to pick them up.

Junior varsity-4:00-5:30 at Community Center. Will evaluate if transportation to practice is needed.

Varsity-6:30-8:30 at Alvirne

December 3- Friday

Freshmen- 2:30-4:00 at Community Center. School will provide transportation to the Center but parents will need to pick them up.

Junior Varsity- 4:00-5:30 at Community Center. Will evaluate if transportation to practice is needed.

Varsity- 7:00-8:30 at Hudson Memorial School

December 5- Sunday

Varsity practice only from 9:00-11:00am

 

Boys’ and Girls’ Indoor Track- The season will begin on Monday, November 29. Athletes should be prepared to run both indoors and outside ( please bring sweats, gloves/mittens, hat).

Practices are Monday-Friday from 2:30-4:30. The NHIAA continues to work on securing a facility for meets. More information about the season will be shared once a decision has been made.

 

Wrestling- The season begins on Monday, November 15. Any student interested in wrestling can show up on Monday at 2:30 in the wrestling room. Practice will be from 2:30-4:00 on Monday. Practices will continue Mondays- Fridays from 3:00-5:00pm.

 

Ice Hockey- The season will begin on Monday, November 29. The team will skate at Skate 3 in Tyngsborough, MA. Players are responsible for getting themselves to practice each day.

December 1- Wednesday-2:50 at blue rink

  • Coach will provide practice schedule for the remainder of the year.

     

    Swimming and Diving- the season will begin on Monday, November 15. Students are responsible for getting themselves to practice each day. The team works out at the Londonderry Workout Club. Practices will be held every Mondays, Wednesdays and Sundays with the time listed below. There is a cost to swim/dive which will be determined once the team has met.

    Swim Practices

    November 15- Monday- 7:30-9:00pm. Please arrive 15 minutes earlier to ensure that you will be in the pool on time.

    November 17- Wednesday-5:00-6:30pm. Please arrive 15 minutes earlier to ensure that you will be in the pool on time.

    November 21- Sunday- 12:00-1:30pm. Please arrive 15 minutes earlier to ensure that you will be in the pool on time.

    Dive Practices- Students will be responsible for getting themselves to practice. The team practices at Greater Lowell Technical School. Practices are on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays from 7:30-9:00pm.

     

    Cheerleading- Tryouts will begin on Monday, November 29.

    November 29- Monday- On Monday the tryout will be held at Hudson Memorial School from 5:30-6:30 and then they will need to go to ECE in Londonderry from 7:30-8:30pm

    November 30-Tuesday- Tryouts will be held at Hudson Memorial School from 5:15-7:30pm

    December 4- Saturday- Practice at Alvirne in the ROTC fitness room from 2:00-7:00pm
