Summer Season

Hello everyone
I hope you are all well. I am pleased to announce a few opportunities for work outs at Alvirne High School. We are currently offering opportunities for boys and girls soccer, boys and girls cross country, football, volleyball, cheerleading. Baseball will be starting soon. Please see information below. Below are dates and times, along with what is required to participate this summer as well as what are the expectations of the athletes. Parents must register athletes on Family ID for the summer activities by clicking on the following link:
if they plan on participating in the workouts. If an athlete is participating in the fall, a parent must register them on Family ID as well for the fall season. 

Girls Soccer- Week of August 10, Workouts are on Wednesday and Friday. There is one session each night. The session is from 5:45-7:30 .

Face masks are worn from the parking lot to the field at which time, each athlete will be screened. At the end of the workout, masks will be worn when going from the field to their cars.

Boys and Girls Cross Country- During the summer, the workouts are on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 6:00-7:00pm. Face masks are worn from the parking lot to the flag pole at 5:30pm at which time, each athlete will be screened. At the end of the workout, masks will be worn when going from the field to their cars.
The athletes will meet by the flag pole in back of the school.

Football- During the summer, the workouts are on Mondays, Wednesdays, Thursdays from 5:30-7:00pm. Players will meet in the parking lot at 5:30pm where they will be screened before heading down to the workout.  Face masks are worn from the parking lot to the field. At the end of the workout, masks will be worn when going from the field to their cars.

Boys Soccer-  The workouts will begin for boys soccer. Each week, the workouts will be held every Mondays and Thursdays with athletes arriving at 5:30 and will work out from 6-7pm.  Athletes will remain in the parking lot at 5:30 where coaches will meet them and screen each athlete. Face masks are worn from the parking lot to the field. At the end of the workout, masks will be worn when going from the field to their cars.

Volleyball- The workouts will begin outside for volleyball starting August 3. Sessions will be on Mondays and Wednesdays with players meeting in the parking lot at 6:30pm for screening and workouts will be from 7-8pm. Face masks are worn from parking lot to the field. At the end of the workout, masks will be worn from the field to their cars. Below is a link to register for the session.

Fall Cheerleading- The workouts will begin outside for fall cheerleading on August 6. The session for now will be on Thursday nights with cheerleaders meeting in the parking lot at 6pm for screeening and the workout will be from 6:30-7:30pm. Face masks are worn from the parking lot to the field. At the end of the workout, masks will be worn from the field to their cars. 

Baseball-There will be a zoom meeting on Thursday, August 13 at 7pm for anyone interested in the summer workout for baseball. Coach Perkins will send out the zoom invite if you email him at and ask to be invited to the meeting.  Expectations and protocols will be discussed along with dates and times of workouts.

Girls tennis- The workouts will begin August 18 and be held every Tuesday and Thursday from 5:30-7:00pm. Athletes will meet in the parking lot at 5:30 near the tennis courts to be screened. Face masks must be worn in the parking lot and down to the tennis courts. Once at the courts, athletes may remove their masks for activity. At the end of the workout, athletes must wear their mask back to the parking lot.

Below are the protocols and expectations of our summer workouts:

After careful review, and in order to best protect the health and safety of all the Hudson School District coaches, volunteers, officials, players and families, the following protocols changes will be instituted immediately in response to COVID-19, under New Hampshire’s Stay at Home 2.0 Amateur and Youth Sports “Return to Play” guidance. Phase 1 of the guidance allows for practicing of skills and drills;  ALVIRNE HIGH SCHOOL HAS DECIDED TO PROHIBIT ANY SCHOOL SPONSORED TEAMS FROM PLAYING GAMES/PRACTICES WITH OTHER SCHOOLS BOTH ON AND OFF CAMPUS DURING THE SUMMER MONTHS.


The “Return to Play” guidance will change as the summer progresses.


Adopted specifically for the Hudson School District teams, these new protocols were created after review of the guidance, as well as from recommendations by the U.S. Centers for Disease Control (CDC);  the New Hampshire Department of Health & Human Services (DHHS);  the NH Economic Reopening Task Force;  New Hampshire Interscholastic Athletic association (NHIAA). All coaches will be provided education and training around safe practices as it relates to hygiene, cloth face covering use, social distancing, sanitation (cleaning and disinfection policies), and illness policies outlined in the Universal Guidelines and in this document.


Note: As more information surrounding COVID-19 becomes available, both in the United States and in New Hampshire, the Hudson School District hereby reserves the right to make additional changes or adjustments to these policies as is warranted.


Please note the following:


  1. If an athlete or a coach prior to practice has a fever, flu like symptoms, respiratory problems or change in taste or smell the athlete must not participate in practice and the head coach must be notified via phone/email prior to practice.
  2. Coaches and parent will not transport any athlete that lives outside their household. Parents must provide transportation for athletes who do not have a driver’s license or a means of transportation to and from practice.
  3. At this point, all activities being held will be outside.
  4. These activities are voluntary.
  5. Upon arrival at school, athletes will be required to wear masks from the parking lot to the practice field.Once at the field, an athlete may remove their mask if they so choose if they can socially distance themselves from teammates/coaches. Once the workout/practice begins, masks will be optional as long as athletes can socially distance at least 6 feet.At the conclusion of workouts/practices, athletes will be required to wear masks from the field back to the parking lot.






  1. SOCIAL DISTANCING 6-Feet: To the greatest extent possible, all players/coaches should maintain safe social distancing, which means keeping a distance of at least 6 or more feet between each other at all times. Practices will be structured in such a way that the physical distancing requirements are maintained.Exception: Members of the same household need not maintain the 6 foot requirement.


  2. MASKS: Coaches should bring a reusable/washable cloth face covering to wear over their nose and mouth when social distancing is not possible and not actively engaged in a physical activity. Further, the Hudson School District recommends that spectators also wear face coverings when at the field and social distancing cannot be maintained.Although not required, players may choose to wear a face cloth covering during practice or drills. The CDC guidelines allow for exceptions to face coverings including for younger children (ages 2 and under) and those for whom it may pose a significant health risk.



  3. PRACTICE and GAME START & END TIMES: Players are to arrive at the field no earlier than 15 minutes prior to practice time. Players are to arrive no earlier than 60 minutes prior to game time. Players arriving any earlier will be asked to stay with their vehicles in the parking lot until the appointed time. Coaches may arrive early in order to prep the field and set up equipment. No players will be allowed to enter the field without first being screened by the head or coach or a designated person (see below).Upon conclusion of practice and games all players and their families should gather their belongings and exit the field promptly. Coaches will be responsible for disinfecting and putting away any shared equipment.


  4. RESTROOMS:There currently are restrooms at Alvirne’s fields. The porta potties are at the field, they should be used for bathroom needs only. Please do not use the restrooms as a locker room to change.Cleaning and disinfectant efforts in the restrooms will be stepped up in frequency to meet the necessary guidance requirements. Please follow all social distancing requirements when entering/exiting the restrooms. Parents/Guardians should accompany small children to the bathrooms at all times.

5) EQUIPMENT:  All players should bring their own equipment to use.  There is no sharing of personal equipment.  Coaches may maintain a limited supply of team equipment in the event a player is missing an item; however it must be disinfected before and after practice.  If and when a ball is used, it will be disinfected according to CDC guidelines. Player’s water bottles should be     clearly marked.


6) BLEACHERS/BENCHES & DUGOUTS:  Equipment bags/backpacks of athletes should be placed 6-feet apart. Athletes should not touch other players’ bags, equipment or water bottles. Participants should not use bench or dugout areas for storage of personal equipment. Centralized areas for congregating, such as benches and dugouts, should be avoided. No sharing personal equipment. Athletes and coaches are to provide their own water and to be kept in their bags. Players and coaches will ensure that proper spacing occurs in the dugout and will utilize outside the dugout and surrounding areas when appropriate for player bags and additional personal spacing when needed.   


7) NO SUNFLOWER SEEDS OR GUM CHEWING:  No sunflower seeds, gum chewing or sharing of any food or drinks between players is allowed during practice or games.


8) PRACTICING SAFE HYGIENE:  All coaches, players, officials and spectators are encouraged to wash their hands before and after practice and/or use hand sanitizer periodically while also avoiding touching their face, eyes or mouth as much as possible.   The Hudson School District recommends each player also bring their own small bottle of hand sanitizer to keep in their bags; however the head coach will maintain a supply of hand sanitizer with the team equipment. The CDC recommends that hand sanitizer should be at least 60% alcohol by volume to be effective against COVID-19.



9) SCREENING PROCEDURES:  The HEAD COACH (or Assistant in his/her absence) will serve as the team’s “Safety Director” and will screen each other coach and player arriving to the field by asking the following questions:

 a).  Have you been in close contact with any other person who has a confirmed case of COVID-19?

b).  Have you had a fever or felt feverish in the last 72 hours? No player or coach with a temperature higher than 100.4 degrees Fahrenheit can practice.

c).   Are you experiencing any respiratory symptoms including a runny nose, sore throat, cough, or shortness of breath?

 d.)   Are you experiencing any new muscle aches or chills?

 e.)   Have you had any changes in your sense of taste or smell?

f).  Have you traveled in the last 14 days either internationally, by cruise ship or domestically (within the U.S.) outside of NH, VT, ME on public transportation (bus, train, plane, etc.)?


All coaches or players answering yes to any of the above questions must not participate and are encouraged to contact their healthcare provider. Under the guidance, anyone with a suspect or confirmed COVID-19 diagnose will not be allowed to resume activities until:

  1. At least 10 days have passed since symptoms first appeared.
  2. At least 3 days (72 hours) have passed since recovery (recovery is defined as resolution of fever off any fever reducing medications plus improvement in other symptoms).


10) WAIVER FORMS:  These guidelines have been formed in order to safely coach and train our players while minimizing the risk of transmitting the virus.  However, we realize that in life, rarely is anything ever 100% guaranteed or perfect.  Each family will need to sign updated waiver forms (either written or electronically) acknowledging the risks of participating in these summer activities.
